Koehler House
While walking around the neighborhood last night, Chris and I decided to go down a street we hadn’t before. What a treat we found!

It’s the Koehler house, built by Otto Koehler in 1901-1902. Rumor has it that he built it on a hilltop overlooking his brewery. According to that same source, he could determine if his employees were busy by the color of smoke coming from the smokestacks. Now that’s a hard edged entrepreneur!
The house is technically located at 310 West Ashby but it takes up an entire block.
Koehler house now belongs to San Antonio College and houses part of their arts department. It is available for meetings and parties and the first floor and grounds are available by appointment. Check out the linked site for a beautiful virtual tour.
